Assistance required- interface crashes instantly

#1

Help! Since last Friday, every version since '67 crashes me out instantaneously.

I’m on windows 8, I tried a clean reinstall, and I am a techno-dummy.

Assume the worst when it comes to explanations. Can anyone help?

#2

Did you try clearing out the %APPDATA%/High Fidelity directory completely first?

It might help the developers if you could bring up info on what sort of system this is on. And see the logs.

To do this, open up your start menu, and type in dxdiag.

One this is done, follow the on screen information, and until you reach the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window. Press Ssave all Information when available and then put the file on drop box and put it on here.

To get the logs of Hifi, open up your file explorer, type in %LOCALAPPDATA%\High Fidelity\Interface\Logs and take the latest crash-log and also put it in here.

#3

ooh could u have the .lock fie in with the ini file?

#4

thanks menithal  i will look into everything you said now, and see what we get

#5

dunno? will attempt to check if menithal’s suggestions don’t fix things

#6

i don’t have dropbox, because of course that would be helpful What’s a decent alternative, since i think putting the whole log here would be a bit much?

here is the HF log, beause it’s only annoyingly long

Have you properly installed the Mobile Graphics card on the Alienware 17? its seems like the dxdialog does not contain your main graphics card, in the display adapters while it seems to be utilizing the Intel HD 4600.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M does show up thought. Try updating the drivers through alienware.
