Can't See Avatar

#1

I downloaded my avatar from mixamo and uploaded it straight to hifi without touching it and all I can see are the eyelids. Console said “image with alpha channel is completely opaque”, not sure if that’s the problem or not. This model was made with Mixamo Fuse.

The model is called crackerhax (under skeleton model).

Hi @Cracker_Hax , ive been having that problem the past couple weeks aswell, even avatars that where created a while back are not showing up… what worked for me was to import the avatar with just the Defuse map, seems that it was the Normal,Spec,Gloss maps that was causing the problem. You could also try using the maps with no alpha channel on them.

Yes it appears that fuse always exports an alpha layer even when there is no alpha information. This is a waste of memory and I have contacted Mixamo to let them know.

#4

The textures are fixed and I still cannot see my avatar. I have no idea what the problem is, but for simplicity’s sake hifi should probably be able to handle freshly downloaded Mixamo Fuse characters since that is probably what most people will be using for their avatars.

#5

Try just using only the defuse map, that seems to work for me.

This is all EXCEEDINGLY technical… I have NO idea what a Fuse is, or Mixamo or any of it. I opened an account, downloaded the viewer, logged in and… all I see is a horizon. I do not see any avatar, no details, no objects, no shapes, just a vague horizontal line blending the lighter and darker top and bottom of the screen. Nothing else. Nothing.

Somehow I got a window up for “Help” but no way to search. I tried “GoTo” and landed in another place where all I got was a black screen. When I keyed the left arrow, holding it down, occasionally a slightly darker patch would cross the screen, moving from left to right, as if I were rotating and seeing it pass… but no avatar, no movement, other than that. I tried anoter GoTo and only got (afgain) the blue and gray horizon line. After six or seven tries I gave up. How does one interact with no avatar? Is the entire thing in Mouselook? If so, why does the store offer avatars? After six or seven places where all I could see was the blank horizon, I left. I have searched and searched and searched on Google and there are NO questions about how to see oneself. In fact… there are NO “newbie” questions at all.

If HiFi is supposed to be a “zen” thing… say so up front. With NO other resources, it becomes absolutely useless.

Suspects your hardware dosent meet the min specs
What graphics card are you using?

#8

Took a while to find it but there are two listed:
Intel ® HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660

#9

NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD R9 290 equiv. or greater
Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
8GB+ RAM
Windows 7 SP1 64 bit or newer

the nvidia you have is below the gtx 970they suggest which may well be the problem but could work in desktyop mode, I have a laptop with the intel graphics which does what u described above

Nope, it doesn’t work in desktop. Oh well. SecondLife is more user friendly. Thanks for looking, though.Have a great one!

Many folks around here understand that Interface.exe is more closely related to Unity, or a VR Web browser… Kinda makes you wonder…
