Do you want a real world terrain for your domain? (If so, read on)

#1

I have a tool that I used to create the San Francisco hightmap. If you want me to grab a real world heightmap, I can do it for you.

Follow these steps

Go to the area that you want the height map, then paste Copy this to Clipboard in a reply to this forum post. I will then paste a link to the files in the forum, allowing everyone to use them.

If you want to know more about the tool I am using, you can buy it here: http://infinity-code.com/en/docs/real-world-terrain

To paste your coordinates into discourse, you need to click the button. See an example below:

Hey @chris I was a bit overenthusiastic at first and I asked you to pull a domain size 16k x 16k map.
This was a bit hasty, its way too big, I should bite off what I can chew.

Could I please bother you to do mine again but at a much more reasonable size, here is the preferred coord

<Coords tlx="151.19606824489165" tly="-33.84688749414091" brx="151.23417707057524" bry="-33.879957270566265"/>

Thanks

I have that tool now and am looking at it, version 2.4 - what settings do you do once you use the “get information from clipboard” option? I am trying to figure out how to make it spit out the raw files and stuff like you do.

#21

Aw made an error, had to click on place selector before copy pasting the coordinates, sorry.

@coal you could do this with any terrain in Unity. Here are the steps.

Heightfield RAW:

  1. Click Terrain

  2. Expand advanced settings

  3. Click the Export Raw button

  4. Choose Windowns, 16 bit.
