Future of facial tracking looks bright

Hopefully it won’t be long before our depth camera output looks like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1iLVAUiC7s

This is a new technique, as described here: http://grail.cs.washington.edu/projects/totalmoving/

Very cool!

Really cool, I had a thought the other day that facial tracking may be in opposition to other vr technologies like the rift for obvious reasons  but this is next-level stuff!

@whyroc - I’d thought the same thing about the Oculus & Faceshift - but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone’s already planning placing small cameras to both inside and outside of the Oculus to get around the problem. Having small, fixed distance cameras for face tracking might even have it’s advantages.

My Oculus still hasn’t arrived though, so I’ve not seen if it would be physically possible yet.
