Interface crashing on startup - Windows

#1

Using windows 7. Dated 4/3/2015 tried to run the interface (many different versions), updated OS, updated Java, and keep getting error. See attached screen shot. Any suggestions?

I have a similar issue with another windows machine (I have many, lets call this A). Tried Running 2223 and 2234.

What seems to be in common is the crash on audio format.

On a windows machine B where it works, this doesnt seem to be occuring.

In Summary:

A. Does not work. Runs an ATI (AMD) FirePro M7820 (drive has not been updated for a while, checking if that helps)
B. Works. Runs a Nvidia 8800M GTX

Okay,

If this occurs on your Machine and you are running on an ATI / AMD Card, make sure you are running on the latest drivers. This should solve the issue (It did for me)

#4

I updated my graphics driver ( Nvidia) and my Audio (realtek) and my OS windows 7 and I am still getting the same error that you did:

#5

Same issue here. When I click on Interface (Windows), it freezes/crashes with the message “Interface.exe has stopped working”. Tried to use different versions of the download to no avail. All drivers up-to-date and using Nvidia. How can I fix this?

#6

I have tried everything I can think of- done clean installs of different versions- am wondering if it is a coding issue? As a side note: I have no issues running secondlife using different viewers, uploading meshes, audio is fine, have even djed, so…

#7

If the last line in the console is “Output Buffer capacity in frames: 3” then it may be crashing on GPU initialization (which it appears to do straight after audio). If this is the case for your crash, what is the make and model of your GPU? And what version of graphics drivers are you using?

#8

Does that help?

Hi TakodahZero,

Very sorry but i m afraid your GeFOrce 7300GT is too old to help you
We are planning to start support at opengl 4.1 / d3d11 feature level minimum so your GPU is unfortunately not capable enough at this point.

Sorry about that, i don;t know how hard is it for you to upgrade to a newer GPU board, you can find very decent ones around 200$ or even 100$.

Hope you can find a solution to upgrade and join us,
Cheers,

S

Thanks for letting me know this Sam. However, just for reference, I just had most of my system upgraded about 3 months ago, at that time I asked if I should upgrade my video card and the technician told me that it was still a decent card and shouldn’t give me any issues. I am a 3d mesh modeler and graphic designer and run, Blender, Maya, Mudbox, the newest issues of Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, all of the Microsoft Office suite software, as well as Secondlife, Netflix and Skype, all without issue. So your suggestion that I get a new graphics card for the express purpose of DL-ing a virtual world I don’t even know if I will like- seems a little… odd. Eventually, I will upgrade however, In the interest of opening the world to as many users as possible it may be a better work around to figure out a way that everyone can have access. Cheers

I am running an Nvidia GeForce 710M. Is this why the interface crashes each time I try to load it? Also, where would I find the specs for the alpha version? I’m very interested in joining and adding to the free DB as well, but seems I cannot log on or open anything

Hi Lyrical,
I have read through a bunch of older posts in the forum and it seems that we are NOT the only people using Nvidia graphic cards who have had issues opening the interface. I am wondering if maybe there is some incompatibility between older Nvidia cards and the current code. There is even an open job ticket listed by Phillip addressing this start up crash with an Nvidia card, which has yet to be accepted by anyone. So, I guess my (our) only option at this point is to wait until the code gets amended or buy a new card. Not the answer I personally was hoping for, but maybe the glitch will be fixed soon.

#13

HI All,

THere is no incompatibility of HighFidelity with Nvidia, trust me…

I responded to TakodahZero that his board which is a GEFOrce 7300GT is Too old to be supported.
For reference here is the technical details about his card
http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce_7300.html

I would expect anything D3D11/OpenGL4.x capable should work if it’s poweful enough.

the Nvidia GeForce 710M should work:
http://www.geforce.com/hardware/notebook-gpus/geforce-710m/specifications

Make sure you have the latest driver and if it’s still failing, please post here the log you get before the crash.

THanks

S
PS: I m developing on a Lenovo laptop with a nvidia Quadro K2100M and my driver is version 340.84

Like @sam say, i suspect also older hardware drivers. I always use the nvidia reference drivers you can find here http://www.nvidia.com/ GeForce 710M need to work with high fidelity, dont see why not, it’s newer chipset then i have.

Nvidia GTX670 here with driver version 347.88

Hopefully Lyrical,
You are able to find a solution that works for you, so far I haven’t, other then what was already mentioned. Good luck!
