Interface dosen't start on Windows 8.1

#1

When i open “interface” a cmd will pop-ul then an error “interface.exe has stopped working” .

#2

Maby it’s the virusscanner that is trying to scan the file and blocking execution ?
Any info in the console screen ?

#3

Sorry to hear that. Not that this helps your issue, but it does work on my Windows 8.1 installation. Try what @Richardus recommends to see if that fixed it?

#4

I will try again tomorrow and i will post more explicit details.

#5

This is how cmd look like.

#6

May this not work because my hardware, graphic card?

#7

Hi @adrian08 it looks like it can’t find some image files and it doesn’t like the sound system of the pc. Doesn’t seem this should stop running of interface though. Please post hardware and OS specs for the HiFi team. Did you build the code yourself or download? I use the download.

Try deleting the install folder, download again, and reinstall.

@G - what is the best process to get something like this in front of a developer?

#8

I have difficulties like @adrian08 with win 8.1

My system info is below… (Where can I get a list of system requirements?)

When I go to https://highfidelity.com/ and click on any of the below images.

I see this image below (Notify me | I have interface)

I click on ‘I have interface’ The result is the interface.exe has stopped working.

No valid access token present. I read this on another topic. This might be the problem?

#9

When Interface starts, do you see a domain at the top such as HQ? I kept crashing on launch when HQ was the domain I was being sent to but selecting a different domain allowed me access.

#10

No I do not @Ciaran_Laval. However I could be going about this completely wrong. I added above your post to my original post, the steps I took to produce the interface.exe has stopped working.

JB

#11

I think is incompatibility with some drivers… and i still think is something wrong with my graphic card, so nothing i can do, i have an Acer Aspire 5733 , so no graphic card slot.

But, dose the interface need java or other things to run?

I will search doc to see system specs. I think that error is about OpenGL version.

#12

Can you get to the log files, they are likely to be in a directory such as

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\High Fidelity\Interface\Logs

They should contain a bit more information that command prompt.

#13

Here is the log. And this is my procesor with intel HD graphics, i think is open GL 2.1 :

#15

We must have both hit reply at the exact same moment @adrian08

#16

I’m getting similar problems with client stop working after loading. ill check back next week for any updates.

#17

Can you update your graphics drivers? I know you said the graphics are onboard but there are still usually updates. This does look like your graphics aren’t playing nicely with OpenGL.

#18

Yikes! That’s very odd indeed. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of how the threads and timers work will look in on this thread.

#19

I’ve tried an older interface, 2101 and it started almost fine, almost because i can’t see either my avatar or any building, i see only a black space with stars. It can happen because interface is older or because my graphic card, wondering if anyone tried interface with intel hd graphics, core i5 580M.

I’ll wait for next update to see what’s happen.

#20

Fyi, I updated to 2177 version and my interface now crashes sometimes at start also on Win 8.1 . It was working fine with last week’s version.
