Mic Wrist Button (Beta)

A quick way to toggle your mic on/off in HMD mode…

A button on your wrist.

  • The button displays on your non-dominant arm. (See Settings > Avatar > Dominant Hand.)
  • Hover and click with your index finger. The button appears when your finger tip is near.
  • Hover and click with your laser. The button appears when your laser is near.

You can run a beta version of the script from the following URL: http://ctrlaltstudio.com/downloads/hifi/scripts/mic-button.js

I tried this, looks pretty cool! I did have trouble actually using my finger to click on the mic button as my oculus touch controller kept touching my arm. Also I didn’t try how it works on different scaled and different kinds of avatars, I hope it works well.

The button’s size and position scales and changes position per avatar scale and avatar model changes.

Oculus Touch colliding with one’s arm probably depends on the avatar you’re using. I also use an Oculus Touch and finger clicking works well with the default mannequin and Matthew.
