New User, Older System, Graphics, Help

#1

Hey.

So I recently joined HiFi to see what its like. I suppose my initial idea is to be able to test the platform’s performance for people with older/lower end systems.

But I’m struggling, a little, to get started. What I’d really like to know is how to adjust graphics settings so that I can run the thing at least relatively smoothly.

My graphics card is a Radeon HD2400 on an '08 iMac, with a Core Duo processor.

Thanks in advance.

I’m not knowledgable enough on this to help. On the other hand, I love your nick, it gives me a picture of a little hamster leading an army of rodents.

Probably against a sea of cats.

What sort of problems are you running into with your graphics settings?

It would appear that the Radeon HD2400 only has OpenGL 2.0 support: http://www.radeon.com/HD2400.html

Interface unfortunately requires OpenGL 4.1 or better (though some things still seem to render a little if you have OpenGL 4.0).

You can confirm what OpenGL version you have if you look in the Interface log file: near the start the GL Version and GL Shader Language Version are reported.

My Open GL Version is 3.3,
the Shader Language version is 3.30, according to the Interface Log.

As for the problems I get, I just have an extremely low framerate of 1/2FPS
