Normal maps supported in future?


The documents I’ve read suggest that HiFi only supports UV maps. If this is still the case, are there any plans for supporting normal maps? I use Lightwave and UV maps are a real pain in Lightwave v11.6.


HiFi already supports normal mapping.

UV maps are not a “texture” like a normal map is.
UV maps are the layout that a model has to map your 2D textures onto its 3d surface.

HiFi infact has full PBR support, meaning it can take several types of texture including (not limited to)

Diffuse, Normal, Specular (of varying types), and Emit Masks.

Unfortunatly I cannot speak for lightwave, but I as a blender user, found this video very informative on how to get thigns setup for HiFi
