I am new again to Hi Fi and everyone avoids me at all costs. I just bought this domain and I want to do fun stuff with it. I have no idea how to start or where to begin. I have no references. I am frustrated and butthurt.
Well you will need to run a server. A few people here use digital ocean for that. Do you know how to compile source code?
I don’t know anything about programming at all. I just want a nice place for philosophical discussion. I am going to look into that digital ocean right now. Thank you!
@LoveAndroo - You can checkout the tutorial I wrote here - https://docs.highfidelity.com/docs/digital-ocean-domain-server-setup
Technically you can get away with 512mb droplets but I changed it to 1gb on the tutorial per their request.
@Coal hat is an ssh key? How do i make one? Is it like a password I can make up or what?
@Coal Which Bitvise do I download?
I want to connect from my computer to an SSH server that’s already set up:
Download Bitvise SSH Client (Tunnelier)
I want to set up an SSH server for other people to connect to:
Download Bitvise SSH Server (WinSSHD)
Well how to make one is explained in the document using the software BitVise. There are other options but that was the simplest and I even included pictures.
As for what an ssh key is, it replaces the password when you login to the droplet (or virtual private server). It is just a more secure way to login to servers.
You want this one “Bitvise SSH Client (Tunnelier)”
