Protocol version bump: update your servers/clients

#1

We just merged a change that bumps the version of all packet types - please update your clients and servers so you do not experience any connection problems.

#2

Alright, updated my domains Centre, Center and Laboratory.

#3

Can you update sandbox and HQ ? the show offline for me.

#4

The new clients are just releasing now @Richardus.Raymaker - should be available shortly.

#5

Is the new server update up? the Windows server build 93 doesnt seem to match the Windows client 3299.
Logs say:

Packet version mismatch on 14 (PacketType::RequestAssignment) - Sender “###.##.##.##:####” sent 14 but 16 expected.

Works on Sandbox and the official servers.

The client seems a bit crashy in sandbox. Ill get the logs in a sec.
Its consistantly crashing everytime i get to the sandbox now:
Entire Log from Cleared cache, settings, and the rest here

#6

3299 is latest for Windows. We had a problem with the ice-server not re-deploying. All latest versions should be published now and all HF domains should be reachable.

#7

Crashing in sandbox now. as soon the mesh stuff load. same problem what happend on my domain. So it’s not ATP , because that is not working in sandbox.

Same problem as menithal, my domain seems after some small update not uptodate. not see entities.

#8

Thats odd because I tried connecting via direct ip address which used to work (its my own domain). Still gave me that error that the packet version is mismatching with those versions I stated.

On further checkup, the client gets 0 servers, 0 avatars, -1 ping, however the user does appear on the domain Nodes list, along with their info uptime. HOWEVER, the Assignments have not turned on and are listed as queued assignment: might have something to do with the Debug [DEBUG] Packet version mismatch on 14 (PacketType::RequestAssignment) which appears 4 times after i boot up the server.

#9

Okay, so the windows build of assignment-client failed and the windows StackManager will have an updated domain-server but not an updated assignment-client. Am forcing a rebuild of that AC now and will post here when it is available.

#10

Just updated the domain manager, one stack-manager update came. I cans ee entities now.

Looks i can now safe teleport to sandbox and not crashing.

#11

What new libraries do we need? I am getting all sorts of linking errors from libudt. (ubuntu)

#12

No new libraries should be required from this change.

#13

I’m getting all sorts of linker errors for vtable too.

** redacted

#14

Did you do a clean cmake? There are a couple of new files that may be causing those undefined reference issues.

#15

My bad, yeah that worked. DS and ACs are all up, looks like the linux builds are fine.

#16

I am now back on better system, better connection. First I update interface. Says incompatible version. Next update Win stack manager on other host. Now crashes as soon as I try to login. Tries other domain servers by launching via hifi web directory… same thing, crash at start.

If the ATP change requires cache clearing, why was that not included in the update?

yesterday on laptop with bad connection things worked but not now, here, with better system and connection.

Grumbles and waits for update… Too late in a long day for me to try to debug or work around. I probably missed something about this on the forums… so… don’t mind me… I just want to complain about computers and software because sometimes… haha… just kidding

#17

Done for MagicGame Ubuntu 14.04. All has worked fine.

#18

@Twa_Hinkle can you try again now?

#19

@chris tried again version 3313. Always crashes immediately with log looking like this:

I left out the middle of the log file. No UI ever displayed, just crash.

Can you launch without an internet connection and your stack manager off, so you are not connecting to anything. Then when you crash can you send the stack trace?
