Texture on Mesh in Blender

#1

I have a 1024x1024 png (tried jpg too) image and I UV edit it onto a cube in blender. I’ve exported it as fbx binary, as a “mesh”, with mode “copy” and the embedded textures option clicked.

When I drag and drop it into my sandbox the logs show

But the cube appears without the texture. :frowning:

Any suggestions?

I have no idea what your problem is but I’ve had issues when using default texture and material names in blender for use in HiFi. I make it a habit to name each material and texture a unique name. Even each version of them because of cache issues.

This may not be your problem at all but I noticed the “Material.001” name in your log and thought it might be an issue.

Thanks Twa Hinkle,

I got it working… For complete noobs follow these steps I took in blender (one being naming my textures).
Following the steps in this video mostly

setup

switch to uv editing mode
tab (edit mode)
mesh -> uv unwrap -> smart uv project
switch to default mode

material

click plus -> click new
name
click assign

texture

click new
defaults to image or movie
open file and select

uv editing

back to uv editing
tab for edit mode
turn on texture
click "keep uv and edit mode selection in sync"
right pane press a to select all
press s to scale in the left pane

export

select only mesh
change to copy mode
click box icon to embed textures
save as fbx binary
