Windows Users who are unable to log in

I’m starting this thread in an effort to collect info on those on Windows who have not been able to log in at all. Would love to see people offer some MSINFO data to help out.

If you’ve never done MSINFO, the easiest way to do so would be to hit the windows key + R.

'll see a little “run” window pop up. Write “msinfo32” (without the quotes) into the field and hit OK.

You’ll then see a “system information” window.

If you have not yet been able to log in with a windows build, please add the following info to this thread. (if you can’t find a particular one, just add as many as you can).

@Chris I tried what you mentioned, though I could not find any references in my ini file to js scripts, so I wasn’t sure where to change the references from defaultscripts.js to editVoxels.js.

As of build 500, I edited the ini file and turned as much as I could to “false” and was able to log in. This included turning off avatars, stars, etc. As much as I could and I’m now logged in. Going to slowly turn on things one by one.

Now turning on:
Stars (stars appear)
Mirror (mirror appears but blank, have faceshift off)
Atmosphere
Buckyballs
Then teleported to a place with voxels… oh my slowdown.
Turned on avatars, saw billboards then a few rendered, then I ground to a halt, but I was able to quit rather than crash.

Note, I also hooked up an external webcam which seems to have helped some people log on. Going to find out if it’s what has made it possible to log in or now.

Looks like it’s acting about the same with or without the external camera attached. Right now the hardest part of finding the cause is that after launching the app, the soonest it loads for me is in about 5 minutes making it tedious to do some good A|B testing. Currently on build 500, will keep trying builds so keep 'em coming :slight_smile:

Helping smokey get in world , we changed all the true’s in the windows Highfidelity interface.ini file to false(this file has all the settings for whats on and off when u open the prog )
and discovered that turning on avatars is the thing that crashes her. she can see voxels and stars and such now
just nobody else

I also had the problem of the program crashing before I could log in until I turned the Avatars to false as suggested here. Now I can log in. But for some reason the voxel tool is not showing up - I tried hitting the tab but still nothing.

As of build 503 I can log in on windows, move around, go to different domains.
So far I need to turn everything off in the interface.ini file (set most things to false) just to log in. Including having no building tools.

I must keep avatars off as they will drop my framerate even if no avatars are around.
I can get up to 60fps, but as soon as I turn on avatars, it can drop to just a few frames per second.

I changed one line from true to false on the interface.ini file, about two thirds of the way down:

Avatars=false

I was able to log in. I will attempt to explore the world more tomorrow. I hope this helps target the problem.

I managed to get in my doing “Troubleshoot problems” and then running as Administrator. Alas I am not technical to know why that worked.

Am getting the same problems still coming up. I can log in and turn on most options but crash when I turn on avatars - interface stops working. Is this linked to my graphics card I wonder?
